For air repair in McDonough, GA, you always want an experienced and certified technician who's able to tackle the job with confidence. Unfortunately, most homeowners don't have any background in HVAC work. How are you supposed to be able to identify a skilled and capable technician? This is where certifications come into play. Certifying agencies and organizations establish standards and testing to help provide support throughout the industry. When it comes to heating and air conditioning, North American Technician Excellence (NATE) offers one of the most respected and well-established certifications in the HVAC business.

NATE

Four AC Units OutsideNorth American Technician Excellence (NATE) was originally incorporated in February of 1997. A mere nine months later, the first tests for certification were administered. Before the development of NATE, certifications were typically limited to particular brands. This meant that a specific manufacturer would be willing to certifying technicians on their products, but there were no wide-ranging or independent certifications that didn't depend on a particular brand. With the emergence of NATE, this suddenly changed.

Once incorporated, NATE quickly garnered support throughout the HVAC industry. The Air Conditioning Contractors of America and the Refrigeration Service Engineers agreed to bring their testing and certifications under NATE. This helped to bolster the testing and the respect earned by the NATE certification. As you'd expect, NATE quickly started to become the go-to certification among HVAC technicians and companies.

Other agencies and organizations began to join, as well. The North American Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Wholesalers Association signed up as well. With so many agencies and organizations partnering with NATE, United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) eventually recognized the emerging group. HVAC technicians and brands had gone from splintered and haphazardly organized to a well-structured and widely recognized collection of experts and professionals. In 2001, there were already more than 10,000 NATE-certified technicians working within the HVAC industry. Four years after NATE was first incorporated, the NATE certification had already become the standard-bearer for the entire HVAC industry throughout the United States.

Importance

You can't reasonably expect every homeowner to be well-versed in HVAC technology. Additionally, you never know what brand of air conditioner a homeowner might have. It could be anything. Brand-specific certifications aren't necessarily bad, but they are obviously somewhat limited. NATE certifications allow for a certification that isn't brand specific and therefore applies universally for HVAC technicians. This allows for a certain degree of confidence in the expertise and skill of certified HVAC technicians. It's little wonder that NATE certifications became popular so quickly.

For Customers

If your air conditioner is acting strange or stopped working entirely, you don't have the time or inclination to exhaustively research certification programs and their requirements. You simply want to know that your technician knows what they're doing. A universally applicable certification like NATE gives you that confidence, so you know you can trust your technician to get the job done right the first time.

Hiring an HVAC repair company already requires that you extend a little bit of trust. Having well-respected and established industry certifications helps to eliminate any worries that you might have. If you're having trouble with your central heat and air in McDonough, GA, you want to know that the person who shows up can get the job done right. A NATE certification helps to give you that reassurance. Contact Omega Heating and Air at 404-438-0353 if you have any questions or to schedule an appointment.
